On July 11, 2026, the Science and Technology Office of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee officially issued the Notice on Launching the Development of Enterprise‑led Provincial Key Laboratories, releasing the first‑batch list of enterprise‑led provincial key laboratories selected for preparation. The Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Peptide Biosynthesis (Under Preparation), spearheaded by GenChem & GenPharm (Changzhou) Co., Ltd. and jointly built with Nanjing Normal University and its Changzhou Synthetic‑Biology Industrial Research Institute, has been successfully shortlisted. This milestone marks a major breakthrough in developing high‑calibre innovation platforms for the life‑health sector within Changzhou National High‑Tech District.
As the lead entity for the laboratory, GenChem & GenPharm (Changzhou) Co., Ltd. has long specialized in peptide‑drug R&D, building a professional R&D system integrating chemical synthesis, pharmaceutical formulation development and chemical analysis. Its R&D centre is accredited as a provincial‑level enterprise technology centre as well as the Jiangsu Engineering‑Technology Research Center for Peptide‑and‑Derivative Pharmaceutical APIs. It also hosts a provincial Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base and a University‑Enterprise Joint Postgraduate Workstation. Supported by its high‑calibre research talent pool, GenChem & GenPharm keeps advancing research into new technologies for peptide compounds. It has built up highly integrated end‑to‑end translation capabilities covering R&D, process engineering and commercial‑scale manufacturing, laying a solid industrial foundation for the upcoming provincial key laboratory.
The newly‑approved Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Peptide Biosynthesis (Under Preparation) targets cutting‑edge frontiers in life‑health sciences. Adopting a joint‑development model of “Enterprise Leadership + University‑Research‑Institute Collaboration”, it explores new pathways for market‑driven industry‑university‑research integrated innovation. The laboratory will prioritise innovative R&D on peptide biosynthesis, concentrate resources on original innovation and core‑technology breakthroughs, and strive to deliver a full closed‑loop innovation pipeline spanning fundamental research, pilot‑scale development and large‑scale commercial production.
